Only the top 2.5 lakh JEE Main 2026 qualified candidates will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026. The registration window opened on April 23, 2026 and will close on May 2, 2026. The JEE Advanced 2026 Registration for foreign nationals and OCI/ PIO (F) category candidates has already started on April 6, 2026 and will end on May 2, 2026.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, will conduct the JEE Advanced for 2026 on May 17, 2026, with paper 1 (from 9 AM to 12 PM) and paper 2 (2:30 PM to 5:30 PM) and appearing in both papers is compulsory. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, has started the JEE Advanced 2026 registration from April 23, 2026. The registration window is not accessible at the official website, i.e. jeeadv.ac.in and only the top 2.5 lakhs JEE Main 2026 qualified candidates will be eligible to submit the application form. For the registration, you will be required to enter your JEE Main 2026 Application number and password.
Additionally, you have to pay the registration fee of Rs 3200 for the unreserved category, and Rs 1600 for SC/ ST/ PWD and female candidates, for which the last date is May 4, 2026. The reserved category candidate also has to upload their category certificate. It is noted that the registration window for JEE Advanced 2026 will be open till May 2, 2026. Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced 2026
JEE Advanced 2026 has strict eligibility criteria as mentioned below. It is noted that not every JEE Main 2026 qualifier can register for the JEE Advanced 2026.
1. Performance in JEE (Main) 2026
Only the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in JEE Main 2026 paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) will be eligible for the JEE Advanced 2026. The following table shows you the order to follow when choosing the top candidates, including all candidate categories.

NOTE: The total number of candidates may be slightly higher than 2.5 lakh due to ‘tied’ ranks/ scores in any category. Except for Open-PwD, OCI/PIO (I) candidates are not eligible for any kind of reservation as mentioned in the above table.

2. Age Criterion:
To register for the JEE Advanced 2026, candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2001. A five-year age relaxation is given to the candidates of SC, ST, and PwD categories, as they should have been born on or after October 1, 1996, and will be eligible for the JEE Advanced registration 2026.
3. Number of Attempts:
If you are confused, how many attempts will you actually get in JEE Advanced 2026? A simple answer is two times in two consecutive years. That means if you first become eligible in year 1, you can try again in year 2, and then your window to appear in the exam will be closed. If you have passed class 12th in 2025 or will pass in 2026, you are eligible for JEE Advanced registration for 2026.
4. Appearance in Class XII or Equivalent Exam
You will be eligible for the JEE Advanced registration 2026 if you have passed class 12th in either 2025 or 2026 with physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Candidates who have passed their class 12th in 2024 are not eligible to appear in the 2026 JEE Advanced. If the class 12th result of the academic session 2023-24 is released on or after June 18, 2024, you are eligible for the exam.
In case the board releases the class 12th result of the same academic year as 2023-24 before June 18, 2024, but the result of particular candidates was withheld for any reason, such candidates will not be eligible for the JEE Advanced 2026.
5. Earlier Admissions at IITs:
The following conditions will be considered to determine whether you are eligible or not for the JEE Advanced 2026.
- None of you should have secured admission to any academic program at an IIT that is listed in the JoSAA 2025 regulations.
- If you continue in that program, or if you have previously accepted an IIT seat by reporting either online or offline, you are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.
- If, for any reason, your admission to an IIT was cancelled after you had joined the institute, you are not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2026.
- If, for the first time in 2025, you have secured admission to a Preparatory Course at an IIT, you are eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.
- If you were allotted a seat at an IIT through JoSAA 2025 but failed to report online or at a reporting centre, or withdrew your seat before the final round of seat allotment, or if your seat was cancelled before the final round of seat allotment for IITs, you are eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.
Note: In the cases mentioned above, to be eligible for registration for JEE Advanced 2026, you must also fulfil the other necessary eligibility criteria.
Documents Required for JEE Advanced Registration
The following are the documents you are required to submit at the time of JEE Advanced registration 2026. You have to upload the scanned copies of these documents during online registration. You are advised to upload the correct documents, as it would be verified at the stage of document verification when you accept the seat offered through JoSAA.
- Birth certificate or 10th class certificate: To verify your date of birth.
NOTE: If your name is not the same as in the class X certificate, serve a gazette notification showing the change of name.
- Class 12th or equivalent exam certificate/ marksheet: Compulsory for all candidates. (Class XII certificate to verify your result of the academic session 2023-24 declared on or before June 18, 2024. If the class XII marksheet of 2026 is available, then it must be uploaded.)
- Category Certificate (If applicable): OBC-NCL, SC, ST or EWS candidates must provide a certificate issued by a competent authority.
- PwD Certificate: for candidates with a minimum 40% disability.
- Scribe Request Letter (If applicable): for candidates needing a scribe.
- OCI/ PIO/ Foreign Passport (if applicable): for foreign national candidates.
- DS Certificate (if applicable): Defence Service Certificate for children of defence personnel.

Payment Methods for Registration Fee
The payment is required to complete the JEE Advanced registration process. You can pay the registration fee online via Net Banking, Debit/ Credit Card, UPI, and CSC wallet. To pay the fee offline, an SBI branch e-challan is also available.
- Candidates select their payment option, which often redirects to an SBI payment portal.
- The registration fee should be paid within the given deadline, on or before May 4, 2026.
- A transaction confirmation message/ printout is necessary to confirm successful registration.
Guidelines for Uploading Documents
JEE Advanced 2026 registration requires uploading the documents in a specific format and size. It must be ensured that all the documents are correct and well uploaded to the website.
- Photograph: Recent photograph (not older than 6 months), colour, white background, 80% face coverage in JPG/ JPEG format, between 10 – 200 KB.
- Signature: Clear signature on white paper, in JPG/JPEG format, between 4 and 30 KB.
- 10th & 12th Class Marksheet/ Certificate: PDF format, between 50 – 300 KB.
- Category Certificate: Valid certificate dated on or after April 1, 2026, in PDF format, between 50 – 300 KB.
- PwD Certificate: If applicable, upload in PDF format, between 50 – 300 KB.
- Service Certificate: for defence personnel, if applicable, in PDF format.
- Name change certificate: if the Class 10 name differs from the current name.
- OCI/PIO Card: if applicable, upload it in PDF format.
Step-by-Step Process to Register for JEE Advanced 2026
Step 1: Check your eligibility
Confirm first if you are eligible for JEE Advanced 2026 or not. Open your JEE Main 2026 Result, check your All India Rank and make sure you are within the top 2.5 lakh candidates. If all is correct, move ahead. Otherwise, stop here.
Step 2: Visit the Official Website
- Visit the official JEE Advanced 2026 website, i.e. jeeadv.ac.in.
- On the homepage, click on “JEE Advanced 2026 Registration”.
- This will redirect to the login page.
Step 3: Log in to the Portal:
- Enter JEE Main Application Number and DOB/ Password.
- To proceed next, enter the captcha code.
- Now, click on the login.
- If the details are correct, the dashboard will open.
NOTE: In case you forgot the password, reset it via OTP/ email.
Step 4: Fill the Application Form
- Once logged in, most fields are auto-filled, such as name, DOB, gender, etc.
- Carefully verified the auto-filled details because they can’t be changed again.
- Additional details that you may manually select are category, PwD Status, scribe requirement, and nationality.
- Choose preferred exam zones/ cities in order of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. (always choose the nearest city to avoid travel stress)
- Carefully fill in the academic details in the given specific field.
- Now review all entries and click on save and go ahead.
Step 5: Upload Required Documents
- Upload the required documents as mentioned above.
- You simply click on “Upload Documents”.
- Choose a JPG/ JPEG/ PDF file from your device, and click on ” Upload”.
NOTE: You should follow the instructions for each file.
- After uploading, preview to ensure the images or documents are not blurred.
- Now, click on save & next.
Step 6: Pay Registration Fee
After the details and documents, it is a mandatory stage; you have to pay the registration fee to complete the application process.
- Click on the proceed to payment and select a payment method, i.e. Net Banking/ Debit Card/ Credit Card/ UPI/ e-challan.
- Enter the payment details and click on “Pay Now”.
- Wait for the confirmation page. (do not refresh during payment)
- If the payment fails, retry after a few minutes.
Step 7: Download Confirmation Page
- Once your payment is successful, click on the “Download Confirmation Page”.
- You can save it as a PDF or can take a printout for further reference.
